To all our gospel partners,

We want to give you a quick update here at the end of summer. Yes, it's October; but summer is long here in the Okanagan, so it still counts! We have had a good season of ministry here at Redeemer. The Lord is working in our church and building up the people of God in faith, hope and love.

We finished our sermon series through Ephesians, which got us thinking a lot about spiritual warfare. It is easy to drift into materialistic thinking and consider things from a merely earthly and physical perspective. And yet, God has clearly taught us that we are at war, and that war is a spiritual battle. *"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12)*

As we think about our ministry and our kingdom ambitions this is very important to keep in mind. We have purposes and we have plans, but most of all we must pray. We need to fight the battle on the actual battlefield – which is spiritual. For even straightforward endeavours like finding a mid-week space, and ordering gospel tracts, and finding a Sunday location on short notice, these are things often opposed by the evil one, and they are only upheld and achieved by God's grace and through prayer.

Those examples are actually real ones from the last few months. We had hundreds of gospel tracts arrive in the nick-of-time in answer to our prayers. We had a Sunday meeting space open up with very short notice, again in answer to our prayers. And we continue to pray and watch and wait for *Redeemer Commons.* We've had some bumps in the road trying to get this one off the ground. The Hall has been slow in responding to our proposal and are perhaps not as favourable as we hoped. And so, we are looking for other options as well right now. It's a step of faith to sign a longer lease and to begin a project like this, but we feel that the Lord has provided for us to do it. It would be unwise, as Jesus taught us, to begin building without counting the costs and having the materials at hand (Luke 14:28-30). But we are in the peculiar position of having a lot of the materials ready to go, but no place to start. We are like an eager construction crew, with work trucks and trailers loaded up and ready to go, but presently – no jobsite. So please join us in praying for God to open the right door to the right space that we might begin on *Redeemer Commons.*

In other news we had a wonderful church camp this fall. Pastor Zacharie Jean from Cornerstone Baptist in Kamloops came down, and together with Pastor Ross and Vince and Lukas preached on the Five Solas of the Reformation. This was an encouraging time for our church and a great fellowship-builder. We left encouraged in the Lord, having beheld the glory of His grace. Sunday by Sunday we've been going through Job, and learning along with him what it is to suffer for God's glory. As the Apostle Peter put it: *Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good (1 Peter 4:19).* There is gold to be found in the valleys of humiliation and suffering, and we need to trust God with His providence in bringing us there at times. In the end we can say that He does all things well, and we are right to trust *Him.*

Please keep praying for Redeemer that God would give us all that we need to serve Him well, to love Him well, and most importantly to *know Him more.* Thank you so much for your love and support. We appreciate everyone who gives to the work and supports the work through prayer. *May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13).*

By His grace and for His glory,

Pastor Ross Odnokon
